Novermber 21 st and 22 nd ,The 8th annual Decathlon Tribord Surfing Hainan Open will be held in Riyue Bay, Hainan, China.

The Decathlon Tribord Surfing Hainan Open 2015 is celebrating its eighth year. As the original and longest running surf contest in China, the Surfing Hainan Open has become the most important national and international challenge on the Chinese calendar.

Competitions such as the Surfing Hainan Open highlight the popularity of surfing to the greater Chinese community as the sport evolves and attracts new devotes to idealic destinations like Riyue Bay on Hainan Island.

This year the number of competitors in the Surfing Hainan Open is limited to 60. This field will be made up primarily of Chinese with surfers from Taiwan, Hong Kong, Australia, America, Brazil, France and Spain completing the numbers.

The competition consists of six divisions. – Men’s longboard division – Men’s shortboard division – Women’s longboard division – Women’s shortboard division – Mixed under 16 junior division – Mixed beginner’s division (surf less than 2 years).

The prize pool totals USD5000 with the added bonus of sponsor’s product.

The Men’s Longboard Division will be contested by the Chinese Longboard Champion Tiezhuang and local up-comer JiaJia with renowned UK longboard champion surfer Sam Blakely also making a return appearance.

The Mixed Beginners Division has been introduced in 2015 to encourage the younger local surfers into national competition. we are expecting to see Ivy Zhu from Riyue Bay surf club challenging the Houhai competitor Fang Wei in this exciting group.

Representing Brazil, Chloe Calmon returns to the Surfing Hainan Open challenging local 2014 Champion Monica Guo and from Taiwan Tim Mei in the Women’s longboard division.

The Mixed Beginners Division has been introduced in 2015 to encourage the younger local surfers into national competition. we are expecting to see Ivy Zhu from Riyue Bay surf club challenging the Houhai competitor Fang Wei in this exciting group.

Organisers are expecting more than five hundred spectators to ascend on Riyue Bay this year to watch the competition and soak up the friendly atmosphere and wonderful hospitality of the Hainan locals.

The visitor experience will be enhanced by local craft markets, displays by sponsors, a visual history of surfing in China, complimentary surfboard hire, great local and Mexican food, entertainment and a groovy party on Saturday evening at the Riyue Bay Surf Club featuring DJs Tommy Hendriks, Rainbow High and Thomas Futoso from The Mansion.

The program kicks off on Saturday 21 November at 8am – depending on weather – and continues through the day until the evening party with boutique beers, and cocktails by Cutty Sark

Sunday sees the beginning of the finals at 9am continuing until the presentation ceremony expected early afternoon.
