September 3rd - 9月 3日

Surfing Hainan isn't just about waves, we have some good skaters around and actually one of them is part of our team. Have a look at our skater Tobey Li from Hubei province.

Tobey is working on a new rail for the skaters in Dadong Hai to practice some cool tricks.

August 28th - 8月 28 日

So yeah.. . August almost finished in a good note with a huge typhoon swell...but well, we are in China and the natural Yin and Yang law had to bring some flatness to keep the balance going.

Anyway, have a look to these surf pics taken during the month. I collected them mostly from Tie Zhuang camera.

August was mostly a mellow longboard month:

伴随着八月结束，台风给我们带来的大浪也消失了！但是在中国文化中大自然有阴阳，八月台风带来了大的浪，那么接下来自然就会有一阵子风平浪静了！

August 26th - 8月 26日

Last Monday 23rd we went for another surf trip to Hou Hai looking for some nice waves... Two vans, eleven students (five wild French girls, three Chinese, two Germans and Niels from Holland) and the instructors (French Christophe, Chinese Moyu and Argentinian me). Very interesting international surf trip!

23 日我们再去了到后海冲浪。我们是十一个学生（五个疯狂法国女人、三个中国人、两个德国人、一个荷兰人）和教练们 （法国的Christophe、中国的黄莫雨和阿根廷的我），很有意思的国际冲浪旅行！

I love the way into the east coast. Look at these pictures, you can have a little taste of it:

This is what we surprisingly found when we arrived there, Typhoon waves!!!

到后海的时候，我们吃惊得看到这样的台风浪！

Despite the unexpected madness of the sea our wild and brave students didn't hesitate at all and they all had great fun in the water. Have a look:

August 22nd - 8 月 22 日

The transition period definitely has began so it's time for surf trips down to the east coast!

Last Friday despite the heavy rain we decide to look for some east swell at Hou Hai Bay. On the way we pass through little villages, it was so nice to go out have a look to the countryside and try a new spot a bit wilder than Dadong Hai.

The lesson went very well and we got some nice waves too. These were our students, Jiang, Zhao and Yang.

August 12th - 8月12日

Finally the south swell we were expecting for this week is slowly picking up. For what I heard, yesterday morning I missed a good session...

This morning the conditions were perfect for learning, look at the pictures of today's surf lesson.

Shelley from Australia did very well and stand up straight away! (I am the happy person at the back :D)

Lets see what happens tomorrow, the forecast had changed at the last minute and the swell will still ok for beginners but not as high as we were expecting... Conditions are pretty unpredictable these days...

Tomorrow I'm going for a 7.30 am surf or paddle, anybody up for that? See you there!

 

August 6th - 8月 6日

We are passing through pretty flat sea days here in Dadonghai at least until next Tuesday, hopefully by then the south swell will come back.

In Surfing Hainan Shop, Friday turned to be one of those boring flat days too...

Tobey looked pretty miserable playing plants vs zombies on his laptop...

现在大东海的浪很平静，也许这个周二南边的浪回来。周五在冲浪海南也很平静。。。

Tobey 因为不能冲浪看上去很沮丧只能在电脑上玩植物大战僵尸。。。

So we thought that it would be a good idea to get out from the shop and have fun exploring the bay with some stand up paddle boards!!

所以我们想离开店里更好，这样我们决定划桨板去海里玩！

Darci couldn't refuse so she joined us and gave it a try too.

刘丹没有拒绝我们，这样她跟我们一起去了。

We got to the Mandarin Oriental beach fast enough.

我们很快就划到了文华东方酒店的海边。

But things got harder on the way back, the stormy off shore wind didn't help and as the east swell picked up the sea got quiet choppy. We end up paddling for around 3hs...Of course it was part of the fun !

Tobey was so happy when we were almost back home, he was pretty hungry.

We might have more paddle board sessions this weekend.

Looking forward to a breakfast paddle!We should organise one soon!

从上周一到周四在大东海每天都有来自南边的浪，不管你是初学者还是高手，这样的浪都可以让你往个够。

From last Monday until Thursday we had a consistent south swell with a perfect size for surfers of any level. We all had great fun in the water!

Have a look to these pictures that Tie Zhuang got for me on Tuesday 27th July.

这是第一次我用一快6'9的鱼板。鱼板为提高冲浪水平很有用，和长板比起来它非常稳一样而且比较快，很容易划出朗区。

My first time on a Fish 6'9. Great board for improving, stable like a longboard but faster and easier to paddle out.

滚开！Get out of my way!

也许到下周都没有浪这样一来划桨板去海上探险非常好！

We might have a week break until the next swell, perfect to go exploring the coastline with a paddleboard!!

Here you can see some pictures of what had gone with the Typhoon Conson around Dadonghai the 16th July.

But looking at the bright side of life, we had lovely waves afterwards!!

I'm Julieta, new expat entry here in Sanya and surf coach at Surfing Hainan Shop. I came here all the way from Argentina, looking for some luck in this Island to learn Mandarin and improve my surfing.
