Steven’s Blog – January 22, 2011

I’ve been in San Francisco for the past two weeks where the weather was on the cold and damp for the most part.  There were a few days in there that the temperature broke the 60 degree ceiling and the sun came out.  Sanya has SF beat for weather and sheer availability of late night food.  I went to In N Out with some friends the night before I came back to China.  There was a giant who ordered three burgers to himself in front of me at line and a bunch of kids wearing rave clothes sitting with their parents.  That’s what I’m saying, in China I can avoid eating burgers with an eclectic crowd of people late at night if I choose to.  Here are some pictures from my trip up Wuzhishan last month plus a couple random ones.

A hike up Wuzhishan during December.  This photo was taken from an outcropping near the summit.

Thank god there was a screen over the window in our bathroom at the rainforest in Wuzhishan.  This photo doesn’t do justice to the size of this spider.

Water buffalo lurking on the roads around Wuzhishan.

…and then you get on the board and flap your arms about helplessly while making bleating seal noises.  Any questions?  Oh god, I’m so depressed.

Bitter melon growing in my neighborhood.

Yansan Gong II: the slowest bike in China.  My first Yansan was stolen from outside the shop so I went to buy a new one only to discover that bike shop was only selling a smaller version of my tiny bike.
