Sunday wasn't as big as Friday, but still fun. Better beach day in general, with the sun making more of an appearance. Pete drove a few of us down. He is opening Haikou's first legitimate traveller's hostel, which should be ready for business within a month. www.haikouhostel.com
A short clip from Sunday
The surf from the last Northeast swell has all but faded, and now all eyes are on Typhoon Paeng. She just lashed the Phillipines, and is on her way west. We should be seeing surf in the next few days. I am going to see if I can rearrange some of my classes. I teach fifteen hours a week, but they are spread out Monday through Friday, limiting the days I can get down to the beach. If I can move Monday and Friday's classes to Tuesday and Thursday morning, I'll be looking at a five-day weekend. Sure, I'll have long days Tuesday through Thursday, but the tradeoff is well worth it.
Here is Paeng's projected path, forecasted for Tuesday, at 2000 hours CST.
