Julieta’s Blog - Surf Safari in Hainan (Part 1) - 冲浪的冲沙 (第一部分)

3rd of October, we are all surfed out after three days of head high waves that Typhoon Nesat gave to us. Typhoon Nalgae is predicted to hit Hainan Island on that same afternoon too.

10月3日, 三天有着台风Nesat头高的浪之后,大家都非常累。据预测,在那个同日下午,Nalgae台风也会打到海南。

North-west strong winds and a 4m east swell were pretty good conditions to explore the south-east coast potential.

西北强风和一个4米高的东波浪是相当不错的条件为探东南海岸的潜力。

Jan didn’t wast time and got us together in his car for it…

Jan也没有浪费时间了,我们一起在他的车去冲浪…

The four “J” car: Jan, James, Jeremy and Julieta -

Mike, Jack, TZ, Chouge, Chouzhuo, Elena, Xiaojing and Ika also up for the mission -

The usual spots were blown away, big, messy and mostly closing out -

Riyuewan point -

Jeremy and the beachy beach break -

So we decide to check out other spots up to the north:

We did some fun cross country on the way

Didn’t last long though…

The norther spots looked beautiful, empty clean lines everywhere -

But the rocks and the long paddle out distance made us look for a better option.

The river mouth was pretty beachy too and the currents there were very strong -

So we kept on exploring new areas we have never been before, check them out on Part 2…
